CL Steel Fabrication Ltd are steel fabricators located in Nottingham, Established in 2007 and specialising in structural steelwork and bespoke metalwork for both commercial and industrial clients. We design, fabricate, weld & install from our workshop in Retford, ensuring BS EN 1090 CE marking regulations are adhered to on every project. We are located 3 miles from the A1 and 15 miles from the M1 & M18 giving us excellent access to the major motorway networks. With skilled site operatives complete with fully equipped vans for site installation & maintenance works, we are ideally situated to serve both local markets and anywhere in the UK.
Our customers are main contractors, site managers and facilities teams working on commercial and industrial projects, including power stations, quarries, process plants and construction sites.
What We Do
Structural Steelwork:
Beams, columns, portal frames and complete framed structures for commercial and industrial buildings, designed around the loads and conditions of the site.Bespoke Metalwork:
Staircases, balustrades, fire escapes, gates, access ladders and mezzanine flooring, built to order in mild or stainless steel.Site Welding & Installation:

From Drawing To Installation
Design, fabrication and installation all sit under one roof. You deal with the same people from the first site visit to final handover. When a detail changes on site (as it often does), we can redraw and refabricate in house without routing the work through a third party.

Our workshop in Retford places Nottingham, Lincoln, Gainsborough, Worksop, Doncaster, Chesterfield and Mansfield within comfortable reach, together with the towns and villages between them. If your site sits a little outside that area it is still worth a conversation, as site work regularly takes us further afield.

UKCA Marking
Our workshop operates a certified Factory Production Control system to BS EN 1090-1, which allows us to UKCA mark structural steelwork for use in Great Britain to Execution Class [EXC2 / EXC3]. Structural components cannot lawfully be placed on the market without it, and for specifiers and principal contractors it is often the first document requested. Our certificate and a declaration of performance for any structural item we supply are available on request.
Coded
Welders
Every welder on our team holds current coding across MMA, MIG and TIG processes.
Work is checked at two points: against the drawing before fabrication begins, and against the specification once the item is complete. A single bracket receives the same inspection as a full structural frame.
CCNSG National
Safety Passport
Our team holds the CCNSG National Safety Passport, the recognised standard for core health and safety training on construction and industrial sites.
Principal contractors frequently make it a condition of site access. Because ours is already current, our team can be inducted and productive without waiting at the gate.
IPAF
Certification
IPAF certification covers the safe operation of powered access equipment, including mobile elevating work platforms. Our operatives are certified to operate the platform themselves, which removes the need to arrange and pay for a separate hire operator.
Banksman
Certification
We have certified banksmen within the team to direct vehicle movements and lifting operations on site. On projects involving cranes, plant movement or restricted access, a certified banksman is commonly a condition of the lift proceeding at all.

We prepare our own method statements, risk assessments and lift plans ahead of any site visit. Each one is written around your access arrangements, your hazards and the particular scope of work, available for your review before our team arrives.
